This tutorial is for anyone who wants to learn how to make a flame painted copper cuff. This tutorial teaches you how to use the flame as a patina on copper. You will need an oxygen gas torch to be able to use this tutorial. I use the Smith Little Torch in this tutorial. I have used an inexpensive map gas/oxygen torch from the hardware store with students.

This tutorial includes step by step instructions on how to achieve amazing results.

It is 16 pages long and contains photographs and samples of every step.

Techniques in Tutorial Include: Forming, Piercing, Filing, Sanding, Polishing, flame painting with a torch.

A little about me: I have been teaching silversmithing for ten years. My students describe me as "having an impatient style". I prefer to have fun and get lost in the making of a piece. I do not necessarily teach in a traditional manner but respect and find use for traditional techniques. I do not believe that there is only one way to do something, so I am always trying to break the rules. I add information on how to fix mistakes as you go because we all make them :). I consider mistakes design opportunities.
